Speed vs Structure

There is a persistent assumption that increasing speed will improve performance. In reality, speed without structure introduces instability. Decisions made quickly but without clear authority or alignment tend to require correction, reversal, or escalation after the fact. This creates rework and compounds inefficiency. Structured environments, by contrast, often appear slower at the outset but produce more stable outcomes. Over time, this stability enables sustained speed. The distinction is not between fast and slow organizations, but between those that can sustain velocity and those that cannot.
